Activities of the BSA Gen HQ for 2022 – 2023

The Bru Student Association is working hard to facilitate the Bru Student in Mizoram. For the past 31 years, the Bru Student Association have taken up several issues for the upliftment of the Bru community as a whole and the Bru Student in particular. Some of the pressing issues that have been taken up by the BSA are regarding the creation of the Bru Hostel and Bru House in Mizoram. However, till today the Hostel nor the House has not been constructed. For the year 2022 – 2023, the BSA has organized several programs such as:

 

1. Fund Raising: The main income of the BSA is through fundraising. For 2022 – 2023, BSA has organized programs such as Blanket washing and selling lucky tickets. For the washing of blankets, almost 20 members turned up and around 15 blankets were washed. The BSA earned 3,100 from this program.

 

2. Community Service: The BSA is doing everything it can to honour the Bru students and the community as a whole. Because the BSA General Headquarters is in Aizawl, Mizoram, anytime there are sick or needy people in hospitals, the BSA OB will do their utmost to meet them and assist them in whatever capacity they can.

 

3. Student Felicitation: One of the most important works the BSA has done in the recent past is organizing a felicitation program for the Bru student Aizawl area as well as at the Regional and Branch levels. Due to the covid 19 for the past three years, we have been unable to organize the felicitation program for the students. However, in 2023, the program was once again revived and as many as 59 students who cleared their classes - 10, 12, Bachelor and Master were given tokens of appreciation in the form of certificates. Also, the program was used by the BSA to encourage the student to do better in their exam and strive for excellence in education. In this program, the freshers are also welcomed and allowed to speak up and express themselves.

 

4. Career guidance and picnic: The Bru Students’ Association also organized picnics and a career guidance program. BSA has organized a picnic for the Office Bearer separately. This enhances the relations among the Office Bearer creates a better sense of understanding and results in better cooperation among the leaders. We also organized picnics for the members. This year 2023 we have organized a picnic for the student on 30th September 2023. Around 63 Bru students studying in the Aizawl area turned up for the program. In this picnic, the student was encouraged to study harder and be serious about their studies. Apart from that students were given career guidance. Through this program, the members were able to make better relations among themselves and create better relations between the leaders and the members.

5. Blood Donation: The Bru Student Association (BSA) along with the Bru Christian Fellowship (BCF) Aizawl has arranged a blood donation program in Aizawl on 30th October 2023. Almost 40 person turned out for the program and we donated 17 units of blood for the needy in the Aizawl Civil Hospital.

6. Cleanliness Drive: The Bru Student Association (BSA) also organised cleanliness drive on December 28, 2023. Many of the Bru Villages in Mizoram observed this program. On this day many of the students and youth of the village gathered to clean up their surrounding.
